5 Stoner Films That Aren't Supposed To Be Stoner Films

2. Shaun Of The Dead

The first (and arguably the best) part of the Cornetto Trilogy, Shaun of the Dead tells the story of an average guy in London who doesn't seem to notice the warning signs of a zombie apocalypse. Written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, the film is a parody of 1970's zombie thrillers brought up to date a clear comedy edge. Why it should be a stoner film: This film is good for scintillating doob-induced conversations about what you would do in a zombie apocalypse as well as slapstick humour that will send you into a spout of long-lasting laughs. It also has a lot of wooshing cuts (great for the zoned-out mind,) and memorable one-liners that you'll be saying for weeks. If you're a fan of this you should also check out Spaced, the TV series that shot Simon Pegg to fame and includes a scene that spawned the idea for the film. Memorable Line: "Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?" "Yeah, boyyyeee!"
