1. Olive Penderghast - Easy A (2010)
This is a film where the majority of the audience throughout wished that Emma Stone was our best and most cherished friend. A film which easily fits in with the John Hughes films of the 80's, both in style and plot. Easy A stars Stone as Olive, a sassy and creative teenager, who lies about losing her virginity to her best friend. Gossip swiftly begins to engulf the halls and classrooms, leading the rumour to spread savagely amongst the students, causing Olive to become the subject of hauled abuse from her peers. Olive decides to counteract the harassment and begins to embrace the new image as the "dirty skank". She begins to wear more provocative clothing, which exposes a red "A" on her clothes, similar to one that Hester Prynne displayed in the novel, The Scarlet Letter. Her role in this film is paramount and does not embody the traditional geek, but a lovable protagonist in lieu. As Olive, she radiates with confidence and audaciousness, while undoubtedly carrying Easy A. By doing a relatively difficult role justice, Stone does nothing but captivate us.
