3. Christoph Waltz - The Three Musketeers
The film that proved, once and for all, that Paul W.S. Anderson must quit making movies. This 2011 adaption of The Three Musketeers was so riddled with flaws and historical inaccuracies it was difficult to pay attention to what could laughably be described as the plot. I hate this movie, seems to be the point. However, sticking with our theme, the sole good point of this turd is Christoph Waltz's excellent portrayal of the Cardinal Richelieu, the driving antagonist of the movie. While Orlando Bloom takes every opportunity to ham up his version of the film's other main baddie, Waltz gives us a subdued performance of a mad genius slowly manipulating everything and everyone into falling in line with his master plan. Can I please stop writing/thinking about this movie now? Thank you.
