5 Things BAFTA Got Right That The Oscars Won’t (And 5 Things Oscar'll Do Better)

4. Keeping The In-Between-Awards Fluff To A Minimum

With host and notorious waffler Stephen Fry toning down the usual opening diatribe and a live performance by Midlands rockers Kasabian kept mercifully short, the BAFTAs felt straightforward and largely fluff-free this year. Minus the glitz of the typical Oscars ceremony, the 2015 BAFTAs kept its focus on the awards, with the evening appearing brisk without much in the way of unnecessary padding. Compare this to the Oscars, which is always so full of padding (chats with the audience! Pizza orders! Interpretive dance numbers!) that the awards come to seem like an afterthought. Expect the Oscars to be no different this year, as the producers responsible for the show continue to throw more at the Oscars ceremony wall in the hope that new ideas for the show will bring in viewers. Viewers who really only care about who wins and who loses in the first place.
