5 Things The New Batman Film Series Should Do Differently

4. Team Ups

Batmansupermanww As you all already know and I€™ve mentioned several times already, Batman is teaming with Superman! After seven (not including the 66 movie) Batman films and six for Superman, we are finally getting the team up that we€™ve been clamouring for. No more debates over whether we will get to see it, no more sly mentions of each other€™s cities that lead nowhere. Barring an unmitigated disaster, Superman VS Batman will arrive in cinemas in 2015. So why stop there? DC should step out from Marvel€™s shadow and approach their cinematic universe differently. Teaming the two biggest heroes up in one movie is a good start, but maybe they should continue in this vain. Rather than having characters appear for a post credit cameo- à la Marvel €“ DC could team up certain members of the JLA, leading up to each Justice League movie. I€™m not suggesting that Batman should show up in everybody else€™s film, but I do think that certain characters could crossover and establish a connection ahead of the big get together. Batman and Superman are the obvious choices for this, as they are the most popular characters and soon both will be re-established in the public consciousness. The Martian Manhunter for example, could be a perfect supporting character in a Batman film. A similar story to that seen in The Batman cartoon could be a useful way of establishing the character. In the episode Batman comes into contact with The Manhunter, who is using the disguise of private detective John Jones. Having them work together as detectives is a great way to make sense of why Batman would put his trust in J€™onn. It could also lead to an introduction to Superman, who in turn would likely befriend J€™onn due to their mutual status as refugees on earth. This is how DC could slowly build its universe. Don€™t overload each movie with a whole host of characters- as that would make it a premature JLA movie- but introduce them in supporting roles, using Batman and Superman as anchors and building from there. Maybe playboy Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen are in the same social circles, perhaps Wayne enterprises funds the building of Hal Jordan€™s latest air force jet. These connections could be a big help in the long run, let€™s just keep things character appropriate though; there is no need for someone like Booster Gold to be in a Batman movie.
