5 Things Warner Bros Needs To Learn From Marvel Studios

2. Put Someone In Charge

If you€™re going to create an interconnected cinematic universe, you need to have someone in charge of everything. Marvel Studios has Kevin Feige, which makes them very lucky, because he€™s a man who knows what he€™s doing. Feige has done a fabulous job of making sure that every movie made by Marvel Studios is done well and can be integrated within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some people may feel that this is an iron-handed approach, but really it€™s the only real way to make a film universe. What Feige is doing is adopting a similar role to the one Stan Lee had when he was editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics. He€™s making sure everything fits together and guaranteeing that the Marvel Cinematic Universe presents a unified vision. That is actually very important, because having one guy to answer to makes it a lot harder to make mistakes. Now, this doesn€™t mean the guy in charge takes creative control. What it really means is that he€™s the continuity cop. He makes sure it all fits together. And that€™s really what you need, a cohesive vision behind this world. If Batman is grounded in a very realistic depiction of Gotham and then you have Green Lantern fighting intergalatic fear demons, there€™s a bit of a disconnect that needs to be addressed. You can€™t say in one film that Batman is the only superhero and then have alien superheroes in other movies. It just doesn€™t fit as well. So yes, Warner Brothers needs their own Kevin Feige, someone who can keep track of these different films and make sure they integrate together seamlessly. Maybe they can convince Bruce Timm to come back, but this time put him in charge of the live action projects...
