5 Very Extreme Horror Films

2. Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence (2011)

humancentipede2 Okay, so this cine-visual delight arrived in my porch the other day courtesy of Love Film and I gave it a spin last night. I was quite apprehensive it has to be said - given the ferociousness of its reputation, the ban by the BBFC and the whole disgusting concept of sewing people mouth to anus. I have to say that I quite enjoyed it. I thought it had a good bad guy - the short, obese, wheezy asthmatic, mute Martin Lomax who had been abused by his father and now lives with his suicidal mother. I like the way he prowled around with his crow bar, ready to pounce on his victims who were all really flipping annoying and deserved to end up as a human centipede. That being said, the film was pretty nauseating. The scene where the human centipede is assembled and Martin gets the bright idea to inject all of the unfortunate links in the chain with laxative is pretty vile. And it would have been viler still if the BBFC hadn't made 30 cuts to the film.... Hmmm I wonder what a Region 1 release would look like.. I wonder.... Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence is sick, it is depraved and it is doubtful if the film possesses any artistic merit. It belongs deep, dark in the bowels of cinema. But if you are a deviant like me, it is a lot of fun. I might have to go and watch it again to see if it is as sick as I remember...

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
