5 Video Game Movie Adaptations That Totally Sucked
3. Hitman Hitman was one of the worst game adaptations out there because just like Number 5 on this list, Hollywood missed the whole point. They took a gritty character with a tortured past who only knew how to kill people for a living, and made it into a very bald Timothy Olyphant with a fake barcode tattoo on the nape of his neck. The plot at first wasnt too bad, with the main sequence of events stemming from a hit order on the Russian President. Things tend to go awry as the plot unfolds though, with The Agency, The FSB and The CIA being tied up into the plot. In the slew of confusion, this adaptation made the mistake of taking the title too seriously and very conveniently featured dual Silverballers (just as in the game) in its numerous action scenes. Not once did Agent 47 try to achieve a silent assassin rating like in the games! Perhaps this was done to distract us from the other major failure in the adaption known as Nika, who was the main female lead played by Olga Kurylenko. While she was a sexy add-on, it was a mistake to mix in a love story in what was already a bad cocktail of a plot. In the history of the game, there has never once been a romantic aspect to the story; and for good reason. You see Agent 47 is like a lone wolf. To make him risk his life and deviate from his kill orders just for some girl, is like turning a Grizzly bear into Yogi Bear. A plot that is too confusing for even Agent 47, coupled with an unnecessary female lead and too many gun-fights, slingshots Hitman firmly into Number 3.
