4. Clone Troopers
One mans Clone Trooper is another mans Stormtrooper. While they are basically the same army, the Clone Troopers we saw in the prequel trilogy were immensely different from the Stormtroopers they ended up becoming in the original trilogy. In the original trilogy we saw this vast Galactic Empire and its countless Stormtroopers ruling the galaxy with an iron fist. The Stormtroopers appeared to be the ultimate police force. However more often than not when it came to their interactions with Luke, Han, and the rest of the Rebel Alliance, we saw them act like nothing short of buffoons. They would routinely fall for the rebel tricks. Whats that, your transmitter is down TK-421? Ill just leave my post guarding the control room to go check on that for you. What could happen? Look, we all have had our turn mentally checking out while at work or bypassing protocol for what we deem simple issues. Its too much of a hassle to deal with the procedures and possible paperwork that would follow. It was just a malfunctioning transmitter for crying out loud! That being said, there is no excuse of any kind that could explain the absolute travesty that was being completely whipped by a clan of Ewoks! They are a bunch of 3 foot nothing furry teddy bears! And its not like they even had the Stormtroopers outgunned. They took down a well-trained army unit with bow and arrows, sticks, rocks, and sling shots. Talk about embarrassing. The Clone Troopers from the prequel trilogy would never fall for such tricks or be defeated by an army of Alf look a likes. The Clone Troopers seemed much more educated. You saw them design battle tactics. You saw them strategize with one another. You saw them actually conduct themselves as you would expect an army to do. And most importantly they followed orders. Betray the Jedi and all the people they were allied with because Order 66 is invoked? Done! In a blink of an eye they flip. Soldiers are supposed to take orders and get the job done with no questions asked. Unlike the Stormtroopers in the original trilogy, the Clone Troopers did just that. If the Stromtroopers could have stayed the way they were in the prequel trilogy, then maybe the Emperor and Darth Vader would have triumphed in the end.
