50 Greatest Action Movies Of All Time

The Matrix
Warner Bros.

The Wachowski's groundbreaking sci-fi action movie turned out to be one of the most influential and frequently-parodied blockbusters ever made, with leather outfits, wire-assisted fight scenes and bullet time reaching saturation point in the early 2000s.

Given how heavily it managed to infiltrate popular culture, the disappointing sequels and the descent of the directorial siblings' career, its easy to forget how brilliant The Matrix really is; a richly developed mythology, cutting-edge visual effects, a great villain and some stunning action scenes redefined the action movie for the 21st Century.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
