Plot: V/H/S 2 is an anthology of found-footage shorts from various different directors. There are four shorts and a framing device.

Horror anthology films are a mixed bag at the best of times and most of them, including this film's predecessor, are very hit-or-miss. That is why V/H/S 2 is so ridiculously satisfying; it consists of a framing and four shorts, and three of those shorts are complete knockouts.

The first one is a very clever and frightening supernatural short, the second one (co-directed by one Eduardo Sanchez, the rather elusive co-director of The Blair Witch Project) is a wickedly inventive and darkly hilarious take on the zombie genre, and the third, co-directed by Gareth 'The Raid' Evans, is a minor masterpiece.

Furthermore, the final short (an alien abduction tale) and the framing device are good as well, and frankly this is one of the best horror anthologies ever made. Comparisons with perhaps the best-regarded example of this subgenre, Dead of Night (1945), would be more than justified here.

Three more V/H/S movies have followed, none of which were half as good as this one.
