50 Greatest James Bond Moments Of All Time

38. Thunderball: Harpoon

The Spy Who Loved Me
MGM

This wonderful little scene is another one of Bond's hardest and most gloriously bad-ass moments.

While talking to Domino (Claudine Auger) on a beach, she informs Bond that a henchman, Vargas (Phillip Locke), is behind them. "Really?" murmurs Bond absent-mindedly.

As Vargas starts to advance, Bond suddenly turns and, with pinpoint accuracy, shoots Vargas with a harpoon gun and kills him, then quips "I think he got the point."

This is one of Bond's greatest kills, which is followed by one of the franchise's best post-kill one-liners, and it makes for a wonderful display of the ultra-cool vibe that made this franchise so beloved. It's the best scene from Thunderball as well.
