50 Greatest James Bond Moments Of All Time

25. You Only Live Twice: Gyrocopter

The Spy Who Loved Me
United Artists

This is another scene that is, aside from a couple of fake-looking moments, ageing like a fine wine. Bond's battle against some enemy helicopters in Q's small, gadget-ridden gyrocopter is still very impressive and remains one of the highlights of the excellent (if dated) You Only Live Twice.

It's a visually stunning and beautifully choreographed battle that has a delightfully crazy, otherworldly vibe to it and makes wonderful use of the franchise's trademark gadgets too.

This is definitely one of the finest action sequences of not just the Sean Connery era, but of the franchise at large; after all, with its beautiful locale, bonkers gadgets and general escapist madness, this battle is about as James Bond as it gets.
