It says an awful lot for Clark Gregg that his character has gone from a minor player in the first Iron Man movie, to having had three more key appearances on film - including in the Avengers movie - appearances in Marvel One-Shots and a television series in which he is the star.
Phil Coulson has also started appearing in comic books and animated shows off the back of Gregg's performances, which have been charming, funny, witty and formidable when necessary.
