48. The characters: Wall-E
Recently unveiled as this site's Top Pixar Character (in
our poll of 50), the little robot with a big heart is a triumphant and hugely charming example of what can be done with extremely talented animators, a great story and what amounts to a largely voiceless yellow box on wheels. His few broken words are enough to melt even the stoniest of cold hearts as well.
49. The Pixar Shorts!
As
A Bugs Life was released, Pixar decided to accompany this with their short film
Geris Game, to great success. Since then, each of the studios theatrical releases has featured a short film before the main production, harking back to the golden era of Hollywood when A grade feature films would be accompanied by a B feature, a news reel and a cartoon. Generally adopting a very moralistic stance, these nuggets of animation are often as engaging and entertaining as Pixars feature films. We chronicled our top ten
HERE.
50. The Beauty of Pixar
Created with some considerable flair, and no small amount of affection by
Leandro Copperfield, this montage of Pixar clips is the perfect fitting tribute to the studio's achievements. And I'd defy anyone who doesn't re-fall in love with the films after watching it. http://youtu.be/UwoPtQevOTE
