52 Reasons Why Jurassic Park Might Just Be the Greatest Film of all Time

26. "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear"

Brilliant chase... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6wYGY3pI50&feature=related "Must go faster... must go faster!" Last time I saw this at the cinema (earlier this year) the old 35mm print was really messed up on this sequence. It didn't spoil an occasion in which nearly 300 people quoted the film out loud throughout, but talk about bad timing. It's probably the most exciting bit in the movie!

27. "They're gonna eat the goat?!"

Rex escapes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn7hQ2BgXSg It's a film full of killer scenes. Such as the moment where t-rex escapes his pen. The rain lashes down, you hear the pinging of wires and bending of metal (recently ripped off, sorry "referenced", in Super 8) and then you get your first good look at the world's most recognisable dinosaur. He chases Malcolm about, knocks a car off a ledge and terrorises the kids inside an upturned car. He also does this...

28. "We'll have a coupon day or something..."

The blood-sucking lawyer... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMzfrod7hcE Poor old Donald Gennaro (Martin Ferrero) seems to be sitting reasonably still here, yet the lawyer is eaten anyway as he sits on a toilet. I don't really think he deserves this fate and, to be honest, I always felt sorry for the guy - but it's the best t-rex kill until... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZ2kxdQf3t0 ...Richard Schiff gets torn in half by two of the beasts in the sequel (still the reigning best rex kill).

29. "65 Million Years in the Making"

What a marketing campaign... From the (I'm compelled to use the word again) iconic emblem, to the brilliant tagline above, Jurassic Park - like Ghostbusters before it - had tasteful and elegant branding quite rare in the film business. Universal never messed with the above poster image and only modified it slightly for both sequels. The sequel had an even better tagline: "Something has survived."

30. "What if Andy gets another dinosaur? A mean one? I just don't think I can take that kind of rejection!"

Pixar clearly dig it too... You can't really argue with Pixar and the animation studio seem to be big fans of the film (a lot of their guys actually worked on it at ILM and Skywalker Sound). The above Toy Story 3 merchandise, that I saw at least one employee wearing when I visited the studio earlier this year, is evidence of the affection many of them continue to have for the movie. In fact, Toy Story features a Jurassic Park pterodactyl action figure (in Sid's room) and Toy Story 2 has dinosaur toy Rex recreating the previously championed car chase sequence, as he pursues a Barbie car driven by his friends.
