1. Imogen Poots
A classically talented actress with roles across the board, Imogen Poots seems an unlikely choice for the role of Buffy Summers, the world's favourite Slayer (yes, okay, some of you like Faith better), but it's also an intriguing and potentially winning casting choice. Poots has emerged as an interesting and engaging actress in both British and American productions with incredible versatility and range, transforming herself from an English rose waif to a kickass American beauty whilst dabbling in almost every kind of film and television genre going. Every role she's taken on has been both different to anything she's done before and a brave, considered choice. From the role of the naive ingenue in the creepy remake of TV's
Bouquet of Barbed Wire to her horror credentials as the teenage female lead in
28 Weeks Later, during which she played a survivor protecting her little brother through a newly-infested zombie London to great effect to Hideo Takada's creepy cyber-thriller
Chatroom where she plays a British debutante who has to stop her clinically depressed teenage friend from wreaking havoc in both the online and real world. Best of all might be her turn as Amy in
Fright Night, a remake of the 80s horror-comedy cult classic where she's the love interest/girlfriend to Anton Yelchin's beleaguered hero Charley. Amy is at turns heroic and hilarious, sexy and sad and most of all she's played so well by Poots that she's a genuine scream you can get behind and root for, given the right material and character of course. Poots is amongst the cream of the crop and an offbeat yet accessible choice to play Buffy. Much like how Sarah Michelle Gellar's star was on the rise when she became the Slayer, it seems appropriate that the role might fall to such another rising hopeful in the acting world. All together now. Into each generation, a Slayer is born... Who would you choose to play the most iconic Slayer of all time? Let me know your suggestions in the section below!
