1. Anastasia Sends Christian A Toy Plane & A Note - Fifty Shades Of Grey
Fifty Shades of Grey wasn't a good film in any regard, but it could have been worse; there's a sense - towards the beginning, at least - that director Sam Taylor-Johnson understands how silly the concept of the book is overall, though that marginal degree of self-awareness does seem to dwindle towards the tail end of the film. And the ending is particularly frustrating (not that you care, right?), because the movie just seems to finish too quickly. "All too quickly?" you splutter. "Fifty Shades of Grey could never end too quickly!" And to that we say: good joke, you. The ending in question had Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) turning her back on Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) after she realises that he's a bit of a freak. In an unexpected act of defiance, she leaves him... and that's that, really. Still, there was an alternate ending - available to view on the DVD release - that develops what happens after these events, one that - had it been included - would have seen Christian failing to get on with his normal day-to-day duties following the break-up (and subsequently jogging in the rain), whilst Ana would have been seen crying in her bedroom. In the very last scene in this scrapped ending, Anastasia sends Christian a toy plane - the one they flew in when he chased her to Georgia; ah, memories! - with a note attached that reads: "This reminded me of a happy time. Ana." Which would have been a lot more cosy. Given that the movie was mostly about being spanked, it might've seemed at odds? Like this article? What do you make of these alternate endings? Think they should have been left in? Are they better or worse? Let us know in the comments section below.
