6 Common Misconceptions About The Dark Knight Rises

5. Bruce Is Actually Dead, The Cafe Scene Is All In Alfred's Head

Nothing in the film supports the "Bruce is actually dead," theory, other than the fact that Christopher Nolan, a man known for his mind-bending twists, made the movie. I bet that if Inception hadn't come out first, this theory wouldn't exist. Many believe that the cafe sequence at the end of the film takes place in Alfred's head and that Bruce died while saving Gotham from the neutron bomb. This theory exists because we don't actually see Bruce escape the explosion, and instead are made to believe, up until the second-to-last scene in the movie, that he sacrificed himself for his city. One sign that the scene is actually real is the presence of Selina Kyle, whom Alfred only met one time at the beginning of the movie. He had no idea that she and Bruce would wind up together or that Bruce would give her the pearls. So why would he imagine that she was there with him? If he was really imagining the scene, it wouldn't be so specific.
