6 Famous British Actors With Awful American Accents

1. Jason Statham - The Transporter (2002)

Stathamtransporter It has to be said: Jason Statham isn't a great actor at the best of times. Sure, he's perfected punching someone in the face, running away dramatically from an explosion, and looking p*ssed off from multiple angles, but a celebrated and versatile actor he is not - which is fine. So when high-octane action flick The Transporter came along, which had Statham as a highly skilled driver who will deliver anything - no questions asked, bro - we knew what we were letting ourselves in for... erm, except we really didn't. What's hilarious about Statham's woeful attempt at an American accent here is that it's constantly changing and shifting, sometimes mid-sentence. It's difficult to pin-point what he's trying to go for, which makes for an interesting and infuriating experience. The producers did have the good sense to completely retcon whatever the heck it was in the sequels, with Statham dropping the pretence and just acting like... well, like Jason Statham. Hooray! Are there any other Brits you'd place on this list? Or any other excruciatingly terrible accents that come to mind? Leave a comment below.
