1. Mockbusters/ B-Movies
Obviously when you go to the cinema you want to see something that is worth the ticket price! However, sometimes it's fun to watch a rubbish film and just tear it to pieces or even just laugh at how bad the acting, plot or effect are. Mockbusters are the new go-to films to laugh at. If you are unfamiliar with the word 'mockbuster,' it is a term used for films produced to take advantage of a predicted blockbuster. For example; when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was about to be released, the Asylum company released The Age of the Hobbits. Obviously no one who follows films would fail to differentiate between the two. But, if a 13-year-old boy asks his grandpa for Transformers on DVD for his birthday and instead gets TransMORPHers, which is understandable. Asylum mockbusters are the most infamous creators of these and they tend to have a fairly similar story except with Z-grade actors and not-so-good special effects. B-movies are also quite fun to watch with friends. It can be hilarious pointing out the dolly track at the bottom of the screen or the extra in the background that is doing nothing but stare at the actors. Not all B-movies are bad, it's great when you find a little gem that has a fantastic story, admirable actors and is overall really entertaining. Not everyone enjoys watching bad films though; understandably people don't want to waste 90 minutes of their lives watching a poorly made movie and would rather watch something better. Watching rubbish movies for entertainment is something that a lot of film lovers like to do but it isn't something we would openly admit to or suggest at a movie night because... well it is quite weird to want to purposely watch a terrible film.
