6 “Original” Films You Didn’t Realise Were Actually Remakes

6. Knock Knock

Lionsgate

You wouldn€™t know it from the advertising, but Knock Knock is a remake of Death Game, a 1977 home invasion thriller about 2 young girls who seduce and torture a businessman while his wife and daughter are on a trip. The original starred Sondra Locke and Colleen Camp, both of whom receive executive producer credits here, with Camp making a cameo as a neighbour.

The director is Eli Roth, so there€™s plenty of female flesh on display, but while the film does occasionally get nasty, it€™s nothing compared to the Hostel series. Roth gets his first A-list leading man with Keanu Reeves, but despite his presence, Lionsgate still sent the movie to VOD in the US.

Keanu is our generation€™s John Wayne €“ he usually only plays one type of role, but he plays it well. Cast him as anything other than an enigmatic loner who talks tough and gets the bad guys, however, and you€™ve got problems. In Knock Knock, he€™s perfectly game as a monogamous family man, but you can€™t help thinking he€™s out of his depth.
