6 Reasons Why Tron 3 Needs To Happen Already

5. Exploration of New Concepts

At its most fundamental, the Tron films have explored the relationship between man and technology quite literally. Beyond that, it€™s tackled issues big and small, including the dynamics between a father and son, the notion of sacrifice, the legacy that one leaves behind and what it means to be human. In Legacy, the introduction of ISOs €“ that is, isomorphic algorithms €“ was only the tip of the iceberg for what a future film could ponder. As explained by Kevin Flynn, the existence of the ISOs could pave the way for unlocking the mysteries to all of mankind€™s questions, which opens up a number of intriguing doors. Unfortunately, the film doesn€™t expound on the notion much further as it hurdles towards its climax, which involves preventing another interesting concept €“ the idea that CLU and his soldiers could leave the Grid and enter the real world €“ from happening. A third Tron could easily dive headfirst into these issues, with another villainous or curious program succeeding where CLU failed in leading an attack on €œthe real world€ or how the world reacts to knowledge provided by ISOs. Or it could tackle other ideas, such as how people might take advantage of programs like CLU for their own nefarious purposes, what would happen if an MCP-esque program succeeded in taking systematic control of corporations and countries or even the relationship that would develop between humans and programs given the ability to create and bring them out of their environment, as seen with Quorra at the end of Legacy. In any event, Tron 3 can head in any direction it wants and, hopefully, it continues to play with the intriguing concepts its predecessors have only touched upon to give audiences something deeper to think about.
