6 Shocking Signs Batman V Superman Could Actually Be Good

1. Ben Affleck As Batman

I've had a lot of constant complaints about Batman V Superman, but Ben Affleck sure hasn't been one of them. Henry Cavil has the charisma of a pumpkin and Jason Momoa's set to just reprise his Game Of Thrones role, while Gal Gadot could really go either way as Wonder Woman. But, boy, did DC nail the casting of Batman. We still haven't seen that much of his take on Bruce Wayne - looking very serious in different shots and a few action beats is the sum total - but even before the first Daredevil joke was made he offered up a lot of the prerequisites for the role - build, range, chin - and through his successful career turn into directing has shown a filmmaking intelligence that rising up as a mucker of Kevin Smith's and hyperactively winning an Oscar for Good Will Hunting didn't really suggest. In fact, when you consider Warner Bros. long-term plans, his casting borders on genius - get Zack Snyder out of the director's chair and put the two-time Oscar winner (albeit not for his directing) in instead and you'll really have my attention. That's what's actually so promising about Affleck; he doesn't just offer a competent Batman, but also the possibility for some serious directorial heft in the DC Extended Universe. Are you looking forward to Batman V Superman? Which elements are you most excited for? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
