6 Star Wars Myths Started By The Actors

1. Palpatine Is Over 100 Years Old In Return Of The Jedi - Ian McDiarmid

On the DVD cast commentary for Return of the Jedi, Ian McDiarmid made the claim that Palpatine is actually more than 100 years old.

Though it helped paint Palpatine as a picture of ancient, unending evil, it ultimately didn't really vibe with how the character was presented in the prequels.

It's canon that Palpatine was born in 82BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin), which would make him in his 50s and 60s during the events of the prequels and about 86 years old at the time of Return of the Jedi.

Sure, he's an old guy either way, but there's still a considerable leap between Palpatine being an octogenarian and nearing a human being's upper age limit.

Thankfully this one naturally got debunked pretty quickly by attentive fans.
