6 Tantalising Movies Christopher Nolan Could Make Next
3. The Keys To The Street
This is another old screenplay Christopher Nolan could dust off on a rainy day and a project he could pick up where he left off more than a decade ago.
Sandwiched between his failed Howard Hughes biopic and triumphant reinvention of Batman, the director adapted Ruth Rendell's 1996 murder-mystery novel The Keys to the Street as a screenplay and was in line to direct the project.
Amazon's book description reads;
Mary Jago has donated her bone marrow to save the life of a complete stranger; a generous act of kindness that culminates in a horrible break-up with her abusive boyfriend.
Moving to the affluent edge of London's famous Regent's Park, Mary believes she has finally escaped the threat of violence. She never thought that one simple act of kindness could put her own life in mortal danger…
Fox Searchlight were ready to go on the movie, but Nolan ultimately dropped out, believing the story was too similar to his other films at the time.
A quick glance at IMDB tells us that The Keys to the Street is still in development, but there doesn't appear to have been any movement on it for a good while.
The last we heard, Gemma Arterton was circling a lead role in the movie, but that was way back in 2010.
With more than a decade now standing between the film and the projects Nolan felt were clashing with it, there's always a chance he could finish what he started.
