6 Tantalising Movies Christopher Nolan Could Make Next
4. Akira
The long-touted Hollywood remake of Akira has endured a tortured history, but there could be light at the end of the Neo-Tokyo tunnel now Christopher Nolan's schedule has been freed up.
Warner Bros' adaptation of the anime favourite is a big deal for the studio and is expected to be a tentpole property if it ever gets off the ground.
Nolan is one of several names to have been linked with the live-action Akira over the years, and he'd be a great fit for the director's chair given his proven track record for transforming classic properties into alternative blockbusters.
The latest reports suggest Life director Daniel Espinosa and Lights Out helmer David Sandberg are among the frontrunners to land the project, but following Dunkirk's box office feats Warner will likely dangle an Akira-shaped carrot in front of Nolan, if they haven't already.
