6 Things Man Of Steel Did Right

2. Hans Zimmer's Score

Hans_Zimmer Seeing how Hans Zimmer composed the music for Nolan's Batman trilogy, it should be little surprise that he scored the producer's Superman film. Since Zimmer is one of the finest composers working in Hollywood today, it should be an even smaller surprise that he knocked it out of the park. Following the footsteps of living legend John Williams is no easy task. Zimmer himself admitted to procrastinating his work because it was such a monumental challenge. Even though the soundtrack doesn't provide an immediate catchy theme for the new Superman (like Williams or even Zimmer's Batman Begins score), it is still a rousing addition to Zimmer's already classic discography. The music helped set the tone for the film early on and helped make it easier to buy into a more serious Superman film. Tracks like "You Die Or I Do" augmented the action scenes by giving them an epic, Lord of the Rings feel and something like "Flight" is an emotional, inspiring piece that already ranks among the best tracks Zimmer has composed. Overall, the music was extremely effective and made the movie that much better. I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually get a video showcasing the Importance of Hans Zimmer (like this YouTube comedy gem) because these films wouldn't be the same without him. Hopefully, he returns for the sequel as he attempts to yet again outdo himself.
