Johnny Depp proves that he can do more than one British accent in this classy comedy from earlier this year. That feels kind of soon for such a big-name movie, right? That's because it tanked. Mordecai took less money at the box office than it cost to make so it's no surprise that it's on Netflix so early but put that to one side for a second. What you have here is a fun film, less than two hours long, that could do very well on places like Netflix partly because of the big-name cast. It might not have been enough to put bums on seats during a freezing cold January but for coach potatoes it's perfect and if nothing else it might inspire you to read the original books by British author Kyril Bonfiglioli (Italian father, English mother) from which the screenplay is adapted. Take a chance, roll the dice. Mortdecai is streaming now. Cinemas' loss could be your gain.
