7 Actors Who Deeply Regretted Their Roles

4. Bill Murray - Garfield

garfield_bill_murray Widely regarded as one of the best ever cameo appearances, Bill Murray steals the second act of Zombieland only to be snuffed out in a matter of seconds. Our group of survivors have stumbled upon the actor's home and can barely contain their excitement when they come face-to-face with Venkman himself. After much fawning, Murray concocts a practical joke: he'll pretend to be a zombie and burst through the door to scare Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg). Unfortunately, this prank backfires when his target reaches for his gun a little too quickly. A lifelong fan of the comic's work, Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) rushes over to comfort his idol in his final moments. Asked if he has any regrets, Murray casually replies, ''Garfield, maybe.'' This is more than a throwaway punchline, as Murray has since revealed that the only reason he signed up to voice the lasagne-loving furball is because the script was written by Joel Cohen. If you spotted the tell-tale 'h' there, then that's more than poor Bill did. Cohen may have made his name on the Toy Story writing team but his subsequent projects (including Cheaper By The Dozen and Daddy Day Camp) haven't quite reached the same heights. Still, I suppose Joel Coen must have been flattered to hear the news...
