7 Actresses Who Were Almost Wonder Woman

Many people think of Lynda Carter as the original live-action Wonder Woman, but that isn't the case. Technically, that honour lies with Ellie Wood Walker, who played the part in 1967 short Wonder Woman: Who's Afraid Of Diana Prince?

Then, seven years later, we got a TV movie/pilot for a series starring former professional tennis player Cathy Lee Crosby.

The movie did okay in the ratings, so where did it all go wrong? Well, according to Crosby, Warner Brothers wanted a female James Bond, and ABC wanted a superhero show. What we got was something in the middle.

Sure, Crosby had the name, wore red and blue, and (kind of) had the signature bracelets, but that was about it. Gone was the iconic outfit in favour of an Evil Knievel style jumpsuit; she sported blonde hair instead of brunette, and possibly the most misguided problem of all, she didn't have any superpowers.

The show was scrapped and the creators went back to the drawing board to create the 1975 series we all know and love to this day.
