6. Prometheus
There were a lot of questions left unanswered by Ridley Scotts latest alien-related outing. Some of these can at least be semi-explained if we accept that theres a broader story going on that we simply may not be privy to. Maybe Ridley will explain more if and when there is a sequel. Some of the plot holes however are just plain silly. The main one which leapt out at me and many other confused viewers involved the two crew members who decide to bail on the first scouting mission prematurely. Millburn and Fifield, or obvious first victims #1 and #2 as they could easily have been called, get a bit panicky in the caves and decide to make their way back to the ship only to get lost along the way. First off, they are meant to be fairly intelligent people and the route back really didnt look that difficult, it wasnt like they went through a complex maze to get where they were. Secondly, back on the ship they appear on an extremely detailed map being viewed by their crewmates and captain, who they are in constant radio contact with. How did they get lost? Why didnt they radio the ship and say were coming back, are we going the right way? Also, to add to the stupidity, one of them is an expert geologist, so youd think he might be pretty well trained in cave exploration.
