7 Baffling Movie Moments That Left Us Scratching Our Heads

4. Independence Day

There are several moments in Roland Emmerich€™s 1996 blockbuster that raise a few questions. Why don€™t the massive city-sized ships wipe out the cities below them when they are destroyed and crash? How come an alien wearing a protective exoskeleton who survived a high speed crash can be knocked out by one punch from Will Smith? Perhaps the most contentious point though comes when David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) hacks into the alien spaceship€™s computer and loads up a computer virus. These aliens have mastered interstellar deep space travel and yet they haven€™t figured out a way to protect against glorified Trojan horses? Is there no alien AVG? How are the two systems even compatible in the first place? There€™s probably not even a drive to load the virus on to, let alone a compatible programme that would work with a 1996 laptop! I€™m in no doubt that David is a very intelligent person, he wears glasses and is good on a computer, that€™s the full cinematic package. Yet I do somehow doubt even he can hack into a computer system that will not only be in a language not even remotely close to anything found no earth, but also probably doesn€™t sync that well with your hippest Apple Mac.
