7 Comic Book Movies That Deserve A Reboot (And 6 That Don’t)

3. Swamp Thing

Swamp Thing Swamp Thing... wasn't actually bad, to be fair, but I don't think it has a place in modern cinema. The first movie was released in 1982 at a time when silliness of this sort was commonplace (what with the likes of the Toxic Avenger, for example, being released within a couple of years of it), with Wes Craven taking a break from his usual work and both writing and directing. It was great fun but, when all's said and done, it was a rubber suit monster movie and, although the special effects could be improved upon vastly in this day and age, it's just too zany a concept to redo. Zaniness is cool - when that's the intention (such as with the Mask) - but for a character who you're expected to take seriously like Swamp Thing it just comes off as stupid. In 2009, Lethal Weapon and Die Hard producer Joel Silver announced plans to produce a reboot of the Swamp Thing movie franchise. Fortunately, it has been delayed - hopefully on a permanent basis.
