7 Films Which Eerily Predicted The Future

7. Super Mario Bros - The Destruction Of World Trade Centre Towers

I know this is a difficult one to forget. It causes many of us much grief and pain whenever we're reminded about it, and as hard as we try, it will likely always be with us. But there's no denying it. It happened. Of course I'm talking about Super Mario Bros, the 1993 movie adaption of the Nintendo series starring Bob Hoskins as the husky Italian plumber and Dennis Hopper as his decidedly un-dinosaur looking nemesis, King Koopa. It was atrocious, if not strangely entertaining, and began the trend of disappointing video game films. It was so bad that Luigi actor, John Leguizamo claimed that he and Bob Hoskins would get drunk just so they could make it through each day. Thankfully I don't remember much about the film, but one harrowing scene sticks out. Towards the end of the picture, when our universe and Koopa's universe begin to merge and crossover, people and buildings begin to disintegrate and move over into the other universe, most notably the two towers from the World Trade Centre in New York. Of course, there's no collision, but watch how it disappears. The south tower goes first, crumbling from the top and then a large hole opens up in the second tower, creating a very eerie parallel picture of the tragedy eight years later. Screen Shot 2013 12 14 At 10 36 56 Was this a coincidence or was it some sort of subliminal warning from the filmmakers? There are theories on the internet about Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaida's connection to the film and even the games themselves, which, let's be honest are just plain daft. But there's no denying it, Super Mario Bros got there first. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og6POlrNU64
