7 Friday The 13th Sequels That Almost Happened

4. The CW's TV Series

Friday the 13th's recent bad luck doesn't just apply to cinema. Plans for a television series were left dead in the water last year when The CW passed on its pilot.

Steven Long Mitchell and Craig W. Van Sickle developed the show and reports suggest it centred on a detective who travelled to Camp Blood to investigate the disappearance of his brother, long after Jason had faded into myth.

The story would apparently have seen the cop uncover the truth behind the hockey-masked killer's murders, and its one that could potentially be told on another network once The CW's rights agreement has expired.

As for why the broadcaster passed on the TV sequel, CW president Mark Pedowitz claims it was too dark for the network's liking.

Slash Film quotes him as saying...

“It was well-written. It was darker than we wanted it to be and just didn’t believe it had sustainability. We thought it was a very good pilot but not a sustainable series.”

Attempts to revive Jason on both the big and small screen may have collapsed, but at least fans have the hit indie video game to turn to for their Voorhees fix.
