7 Great Batman Villains (Still Yet To Appear In A Film)
1. Court Of Owls
There have been a huge influx of new additions to Batman’s rogues gallery in recent years. The majority of these have come and gone without making much of an impact, with only a few (such as Professor Pyg and Dollmaker) being significant enough to even have their own Wikipedia articles. One collective introduced when DC rebooted their entire continuity in 2011 stands out, however, the Court of Owls.
A secret society that have existed within Gotham City for hundreds of years, the Court are a shadowy cabal that utilise elite assassins, called Talons, to manipulate the power structures controlling the city.
Set to be given a higher profile through their inclusion as the main villains in the next Arkham games, the Court could be both a blessing and a curse to potential film writers. Their lack of established comic history means that they can be treated as a blank canvas and their intentions moulded around the plot, but their lack of recognition could make it hard to market a story around them.
The Court have not only jostled with Batman in the past, however, having made enemies of the likes of the Birds of Prey, Mr. Freeze and the Penguin. Pairing them off with a more established villain could be a very interesting route to go down, as no Batman film has yet forced the Dark Knight to team up with an adversary (Catwoman notwithstanding) to take down a common threat to them both.
