3. President James Sawyer - White House Down
Columbia PicturesJamie Foxx's depiction of President James Sawyer in White House Down was phenomenal. Although the film shared a similar plot to Olympus Has Fallen, the President in this film was far more active in defeating the invasive forces. The way in which Foxx interacts with the daughter of Channing Tatum is remarkable and representative of what would make him such an incredible politician. Foxx's respect for the young girl shows how he would interact with people while campaigning; his personality would make him extremely electable. Foxx shows his intelligence when he works out who had masterminded the terrorist plot, and he was equally steadfast in ensuring that military force is only used when it is absolutely necessary (which provides the motive for the terrorist attack, with the enemy wishing to see a show of American force). The commitment to non-violent means is laudable, but it is equally matched by his decision to attack his captor in the films closing scenes, showing how he could make tough decisions. If we take these rather selfless actions and take them as representative of how President Sawyer would act in other situations, we can see that he would be a rather successful President, and given the power of his speeches he would be an exceptional candidate.
