7 Greedy Actors Who Didn't Return For The Sequel

6. Crispin Glover - Back To The Future Part II

Crispin Glover Crispin Glover had played a few minor roles on sitcoms like Happy Days and in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. But it wasn't until his breakout role as George McFly in Back to the Future, that audiences really took notice. Okay, so "took notice" is maybe an overstatement. Glover has made a career of playing eccentrics and weirdoes in mostly supporting roles. But after the height of his Back to the Future fame, Glover and the film's producers could not agree on his salary for the sequels. Glover stated that he was offered $125,000 to return for Back to the Future Part II, significantly less than the rest of the cast. The producers thought Glover's salary demand was way more than they were willing to pay. George McFly's role in the sequel was therefore significantly reduced. Robert Zemeckis wound up casting actor Jeffrey Weissman, who wore prosthetics to resemble Glover, to play the role and also spliced in previously filmed footage of Glover to complete the George McFly affect. Glover wound up suing the producers for use of his likeness without his permission. In the end, did it really matter that Glover was recast? Personally, I never even noticed that it wasn't Glover in Back to the Future Part II until years after my initial viewing. And all without that crappy Polar Express style motion-capture CGI. Well done, Zemeckis.
