7 Greedy Actors Who Didn't Return For The Sequel

2. Will Smith - Independence Day 2

Will Smith We have yet to feel the ramifications of this display of greed as Independence Day 2 is still in pre-production, but director Roland Emmerich has already announced that Will Smith will not be reprising his role as Captain Steven Hiller. The reason: he's just too expensive. In 2011, it was reported that Smith allegedly asked for a salary of $50 million to do the sequel to the film that launched him from a rapper and sitcom star to marquee superstar. It's a shame that Smith won't take a reduced salary to return to the franchise that essentially made his name, but with Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum both on board for the sequel, I'm still relatively optimistic about the film. After all, when people are asked to recall the most memorable scene in the first film, the answer is inevitably Bill Pullman's speech before the final aerial assault on the aliens. So with Goldblum...Goldbluming and Pullman reprising his role as the greatest movie President of all time, I think we're in good hands.
