7 Harry Potter Moments That Are So Much Better In The Film

3. Neville's Monologue

The goof of Gryffindor’s transformation is truly complete in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Frank and Alice’s son confronts the Dark Lord himself. It’s a move that would no doubt make his parents, and grandmother, proud as Neville finally lives up to legacy of the Longbottom name.

In the book, Neville charges at You Know Who presumably in an attempt to kill him and end things once and for all. It’s a brave move but things do not go to plan. Neville is disarmed and is subsequently humiliated by the Dark Lord, having the Sorting Hat forced upon his head and set ablaze. The film version of events is far more Hollywood and all the better for it.

Taking place in the closing moments of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, as the forces of good and evil face off on opposite ends of the courtyard in front of what remains of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Neville steps forward into the open and gives a rallying speech of Braveheart proportions.

Still believing his friend to have died at the hands of the Dark Lord, Neville turns to his companions and tells them that Harry Potter did not die in vain before slowly turning his head back to Voldemort, locking eyes with the most powerful dark wizard of all-time and exclaiming “but you will!”

What. A. Legend.
