7 Horrifying Movies That Will Put You Off Travel Forever

4. The Impossible

loimposible This movie looks at the potential horrors of travel from a different perspective: what do you do when you're in an unfamiliar place when a natural disaster or other tragedy strikes? The Impossible follows an English family on vacation in Thailand during the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004. The severely injured mother and eldest son are separated from the father and two younger sons, and they have to find a way back to one another. It's absolutely terrifying to think of being separated from your loved ones during a tsunami, not knowing if they're alive or dead. Let alone in a foreign country where you don't speak the language and don't know your way around. If I hadn't read online that this was based on the experience of an actual Spanish family, I would have thought it was all fiction, because their story is almost too amazing to be real.
