2. Toni Collette Is Terrified Of Horror Films
Having starred in films like The Sixth Sense, Hereditary and Krampus, Toni Collette is a true veteran of the horror genre. So, it may come as a surprise to learn that although the Australian enjoys acting in scary flicks, she hates watching them.
Speaking to The Guardian in 2018, Collette explained that she is so petrified of horror films that she avoids watching them altogether. Her fear has prevented her from experiencing many cinematic classics, including Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece The Shining. To be fair to the actress, she did buy the DVD, but she has not yet managed to summon the courage to remove its wrapper.
Why, then, has Collette chosen to act in so many spine-chillers over the course of her career? For the actress, knowing exactly what is happening on-set has a calming effect. She also prefers to work with directors who make horror films which incorporate other, non-horror elements. After all, there is nothing like a sprinkling of humour or a romantic subplot to allay a person's fears!
