7 Horror Movie Prequels That Need To Happen

1. Cabin In The Woods

The Cabin in the Woods is a rare example of a horror movie that is completely sequel proof. If you have seen how it ends then you will understand why. What it isn’t however, is prequel proof. In fact, there is an unlimited barrel of ideas that could make a fantastic Cabin in the Woods prequel.

The events of Cabin in the Woods, and particularly the goings on underground in the bunker, such as betting on what horror awaits the protagonists, convey that this ‘ritual’ is only one of many, and furthermore, they have been going on since the beginning of time. And whilst that alone doesn’t guarantee a good prequel, the sheer number of macabre scenarios and beasts that could have risen from below certainly is.

After all, the eventual ‘choosing’ of a zombified family is a lot less interesting than many of the other terrifying and bizarre options that are waiting below, which includes everything from huge flying bats to mermen! And then there is the fact that these rituals take place all around the world, meaning a prequel could focus on an entirely different setting, with unique ‘rules’, keeping the concept fresh.

All things considered, there really isn’t a more perfect horror movie to spawn a prequel. And one that could play with the same premise whilst being distinctly different and surprising in its own way.
