In Superman II, three Kryptonian super villains arrive on Earth to conquer it. During the last half of the movie they give Superman a good run for his money and even seem to get the better of him as he flies off to the Fortress of Solitude. The villains follow him there with Superman's squeeze Lois Lane and arch-criminal Lex Luthor in tow. After one of the strangest super-battles committed to film involving finger lasers, disappearing/multiplying Supermen and the previously-mentioned S-shield, Superman surrenders when Lois is threatened. Realising Lex is now of no use to them, they toss him aside next to Superman. Superman whispers to Luthor that he has a means of eliminating the Kryptonians' powers and shushes him when Zod begins to approach - too bad Luthor spoils it by telling Zod what Supes was whispering to him. But then again, why would he have to? Kryptonian super-hearing was established multiple times in the first Superman movie. At one point Superman was able to hear Lois' cries for help miles and miles away. Now Zod couldn't hear Superman whispering plans against him from fifteen feet away? No wonder this guy failed to conquer his home planet. And speaking of Kryptonians....
