7 Man Of Steel Criticisms Which Were Completely Unfair

7. The Phantom Zone

Why did Jor-El send Zod and Co. to float in space when they could have stayed on Krypton and died with the rest of them? Seems like a logical complaint until you consider the possibility that the council had planned on inflicting a fate worse than death. Don't forget, it was not part of the plan for Zod to break free and unleash hell on earth. If The Phantom Zone had done what it was expected to do, then Zod would be forever stuck in space. This would be a punishment befitting of the crime as he is effectively stuck in limbo and was not given the honour of dying with his own people. It is only due to the fact that Zod does break free that many thought The Phantom Zone was a silly plot contrivance. A criticism which is not only unfair to Snyder, but to the Superman mythology as a whole. This was not the first time that The Phantom Zone has appeared and yet it seems to attract a lot more criticism than the earlier Superman movies, once again showing how difficult a task Snyder had undertaken.
