7 Marvel Cinematic Universe Side Characters That Deserve Their Own Movie

1. Nick Fury: Agent Of SHIELD

Nick Fury Like Don Cheadle, Sam Jackson has a strong box office presence and despite having a massive presence in the MCU films (even when you don€™t see him) there isn€™t much to the Nick Fury (Jr.? I call BS!!!) character. Agent Coulson is getting his own spin off and he friggin€™ died! I get the feeling that Sam Jackson might not be above the occasional appearance on the TV show, but not want to make a habit of it. But a movie? The one thing this new version of Fury does is negate the original characters origin. Some of the WWII cast from The First Avenger are actually more closely related to Fury than Cap. So where did this version come from, what exactly does a man have to do to get into his current position? This seems like a story worth telling at some point. If we can get Jackson in to film a solo (ish?) adventure, it might keep him from getting board and filming Snakes on a Plane 4: The Long Kiss in the Arena Shaft, straight to DVD of course. Seriously, how does one convince Sam Jackson to make a straight to DVD movie at this point? The SHIELD TV series should help define the organization itself, but what about its leader? The super spy, rough and tumble yet eloquent (C€™mon, the €˜War is won by soldiers€™ line from the beginning of Avengers was awesome) leader of the ultimate military organization deserves some time to shine. Marvel should be attempting to bring things to a head with everything culminating in each Avengers film, so Fury should begin to uncover something that is so big that he€™ll have to go underground in order to uncover it, I€™m thinking shape shifting aliens that are slowly taking over the planet? Humanoid blue alien allies who are secretly combating the shape shifters behind the scenes? Yeah, I think somebody needs to call me. I can do this all day. If Marvel is serious about this new expanded universe, then every possibility should be explored. They also desperately need to make it clear to their actors that none of them are bigger than the films themselves, and making crap loads of money off of movies based on secondary or side characters is an incredible bargaining chip to that end.

Dante R Maddox got started in writing about pop culture in 2007. He developed his conversational style majoring in English and minoring in speech communication, his desire to write as if he were speaking to the reader face to face was the bane of many professors. An odd blend of geek cred and regular fella chic', you're just as likely to end up talking about baseball or politics as you are about comic books and movies (just don't mention Tucker Carlson, you are addressing the man who will go to jail for assault in the future after all). He wrote a book called The Lineage of Durge that's available on Amazon for a small amount of money, he's writing a second while acting as Editor-in-Stuff over at Saga Online Press, there is a graphic novel expansion of his book series also in the works as well as continued development of his cheesecannon, one day Canada...one day (Seriously, a piece of ham, you slice it up and now it's bacon?!?!? I say thee nay!!!)
