4. Moon
Moon is the debut film of Duncan Jones. I wanted to mention that this is his debut film because you couldn't tell it otherwise. Moon displays a strong talent on the rise, and that talent was also shown in Jones' second film, Source Code. Moon stars Sam Rockwell as a employee for Lunar Industries that begins to experience some odd things near the end of his three year contract. Rockwell is stationed on the moon, and the movie is mostly a one man show for Rockwell, who mostly just plays off himself, and a computer voiced by Kevin Spacey. I don't want to delve too much into the plot of Moon. This is a film that you need to see without knowing too much and just watch as it unravels before you. Moon isn't a film filled with twists or anything, but there are some surprises in this movie that would be more enjoyable if they were actually surprises. Movies that are mostly one-man-shows need a powerhouse performance in the center, and Rockwell delivers one. This is his best work to date, and that's saying something. I'm not going to make any "out of this world!" puns or anything. Just see Moon.
