7 Most Overlooked Films of the 2000s

1. Where the Wild Things Are

Where The Wild Things Are is a perfect encapsulation of childhood and it's ever changing emotions. How it isn't roundly considered a masterpiece is beyond me. There are people, like the New York Times' A.O. Scott, that agree with me, but there are a number of people that consider it terrible. Spike Jonze has crafted a beauty of a film. He does so much with so little, and yet has received so little back.

A good bit of Where The Wild Things Are is nothing more than Max running around with the Wild Things, and yet the emotions that come through with those scenes are profound. The cinematography is beautiful, the puppetry seamless, and the lead performance, by newcomer Max Records, is natural and perfect.

I'm not going to write as much about this movie as I have most of the others, because I would have a hard time explaining why this movie works as well as it does. The movie is just powerfully effective. Plain and simple. Just see it so you can see why I love it so much.

Jeremy Sollie hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
