7 Most Overlooked Final Girls In Horror Movies

6. Trish Jenner (Gina Philips) - Jeepers Creepers

Sarah Polley Dawn Of The Dead
United Artists

Having to spend hours with a sibling on a cross-country road trip is frustrating at the best of times, but even more so when you've pissed off some sort of ancient cannibal monster who likes a clever registration plate.

Trish and her brother Darry are two college-age kids returning home for spring break. After accidentally witnessing the being known as the Creeper disposing of a victim, he makes them his next target. A chase ensures, and the siblings manage to elude him, and this is where their differences start to show. Trish is adamant they drive on and report what they've seen to the authorities whilst Darry thinks they should turn around to investigate the site of the disposal. Trish - understandably - gives in to her brother, but it's his well-intentioned stupidity that triggers a series of fatal events.

What ultimately saves Trish is her level of fear, or lack of it. Upon finally doing what any sensible person would do and going to a police station, she and Darry are told by the psychic Jezelle that the creature seeks its prey through smelling their fear. When cornered by the Creeper at the film's climax, she and Darry are given a good old sniff by it. Trish is spared and Darry is abducted and ferried away into the night on wings of terror.

Undoubtedly Trish was scared when face-to-face with the Creeper - she's obviously not unfeeling, and fear is a tool that can be beneficial when wielded correctly - but her steadfastness saves her life.

Trish is the voice of reason throughout the film and her sense pays off, in that she isn't horrifically murdered. Yes, she has to live with the loss of her brother... but at least she lives.
